"The Norwegian soprano Bodil Arnesen is one of the "true Norwegian" elements. Her singing is so ingenuous and pure. Her lyrical soprano really suited the music of Grieg, and is performed in a graceful manner." "She caught everybody’s attention the minute she stepped onto the stage... Her music had the texture of silk and willow, loose and unstrained, and her emotions appeared most genuine. Bodil Arnesen is likely to become a superstar in the world of lyrical sopranos…" "Her fresh and silvery voice combines a rare musical accuracy with spontaneous joy of singing, beautifully nuanced expressions and a distinguished text pronounciation..."
Bodil Arnesen has given concerts in Europe, North America and Asia, released a total of 23 CDs and enjoyed a raving reception from the public and critics both at home and abroad. She has won a number of highly prestigious prizes and awards, including the ARD International Music Competition in Munich and the Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition in Helsinki. During the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, she appeared as one of our talented young Norwegian musicians. Bodil Arnesen sings “The Blessing” every week on the Norwegian P1 radio programme entitled “Psalms and Songs for All Times”. The song is the most-played on all songs on Norwegian radio.
